Our Pastor

Taylor Burgoyne is the Senior Pastor at Eastside Covenant Church, he has been serving here since August 2015.

Taylor grew up in the Seattle area and is a graduate of Seattle Pacific University where he earned his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Policy and Law; in addition to his degree he also studied Christian Scriptures and Biblical Hebrew. While an undergraduate student he was a frequent volunteer with homeless and street involved youth at New Horizons Street Ministries, where he taught a photography course. Taylor is also a graduate of North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago where he earned his Masters of Divinity (M.Div) as well as his Masters Certificate in Congregational Vitality. Taylor is a lifelong Covenanter (our denomination) and is passionate about the intersection of faith and public life.

Taylor enjoys several hobbies including: rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, photography, competitive bacon eating, and bad jokes.

He completed the chaplaincy requirement for his M.Div at the University of Washington Medical Center where he was the primary chaplain for the inpatient psychiatric unit, which stirred in him a deep compassion for those who suffer from mental illnesses.

Taylor frequently travels to Israel/Palestine where he participates in peace building efforts. He also helped to create a  documentary film centered around the subject of peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land.

Taylor continues to be active in immigration reform efforts both through our denomination and through ecumenical groups.

Taylor and his wife Rachel met in seminary, Rachel also has her Masters of Divinity as well as her Masters of Non-Profit Administration. Rachel works in the non-profit sector here in Tucson.
