Faith Floods the Desert – Good Friday Liturgical Action

Join people of faith across Southern Arizona on Good Friday, April 19th for “Faith Floods the Desert,” a liturgical-prophetic action.

On this day, as Christians around the world remember the crucifixion of Jesus, we are painfully aware of the way in which our current border policies are leading to the ongoing “crucifixion” of migrants in our desert. Join us as we journey to the border fence in Sasabe for a prayer service. Along the way we will stop and offer prayers at the crosses that mark the place where one of our migrant siblings have died in our desert.

We will meet at 7:00 AM at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church (3809 E 3rd St, Tucson, AZ 85716) for a brief liturgy and press conference and then depart for Sasabe at 7:30 AM. We anticipate returning to Tucson by 1:00 PM. You are invited to bring gallons of water with you to St Mark’s to support ongoing humanitarian efforts.

Stand with us as we stand with those who are most directly impacted by our border policies and with those, like No More Death’s volunteer Scott Warren, who are being criminally charged for providing humanitarian aid. We gather to say these deaths must end and the charges against humanitarian workers be dropped!
