Dear Eastside
The Psalms we’ve explored together this summer have given voice to the full range of human experience.
We’ve heard the psalmists cry out from the depths of despair and cling to life-saving hope. They’ve written with awe and wonder about a vast and holy God who sees and cares for “little ole’ us.” They’ve expressed raw emotions -rage, longing for justice, and vulnerability - honestly and unpolished, before God and their community. They’ve beautifully described their deepest yearnings and desires.
This Sunday, we’ll turn to the final psalm in our summer series: Psalm 41. This song calls us to see the dignity and needs of those who are struggling. It also asks us to name the pain of times when we ourselves were not shown the kindness we needed.
At its heart, Psalm 41 reminds us that God is always on the side of the needy, the sick, the vulnerable, and the weak. As followers of Jesus, we long to be found on God’s side, too. That’s why this Sunday, we’re once again partnering with Gospel Rescue Mission to make sandwiches for those in their care- people who are not forgotten by God and should never be forgotten by us.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday,
Pastor Kirsten
p.s. Don't forget we are still also collecting items for Salvation Army's "Operation Chill Out" - place those items in the box in our foyer!

At our last congregational meeting, I shared four values that were shaping three areas of ministry focus for our church over the next three years. One of those was Pilgrimage - a journey that we walk together towards a shared destination. There are opportunities to experience formation through specific pilgrimages, like for example El Camino de Santiago in Spain.
But there is another opportunity much closer to home! Our own Aria Quinn helps to lead these pilgrimages and is guiding the Camino de Sonoma in California this fall.
