Dear Eastside,
During the years when I was running more consistently, I found myself becoming quite prone to overuse injuries. I always expected the physical therapists to simply focus on the problem area (usually my foot or ankle, sometimes a shin or a knee), but time after time they told me the same message: you have to strengthen your core! Strengthening those bigger muscle groups are essential because they stabilize the body, improve our balance, and create a functional foundation for the limbs, allowing for proper form in other activities.
I have shared that over the next three years we have three ministry initiatives that we are prioritizing. In many ways they core-strengtheners - allowing us to be deeply rooted in Christ, in our gospel witness and mission, and function well as a church.
Once again those ministry initiatives are 1) building a spiritual house for all generations 2) consecrating ourselves to spiritual formation, and 3) making an impact in our local community. Just like core muscle groups, these priorities will work to stabilize us, create a good foundation, and allow for 'proper form' as we continue on together.
As you read the rest of the newsletter - consider how many of these invitations and updates are opportunities for our church to grow in its core strength and where you might be a participant in that.
Love,
Pastor Kirsten

A spiritual house for all generations
God has shaped the heart of our church
Now we need to care for the home
While the heart of our church is vibrant and growing, our home -the building that holds and supports our ministry - is in urgent need of attention.
God has deepened our faith, drawn us closer together, and stirred in us a renewed passion for His work in Tucson. We see it in our worship, our outreach, our relationships, and our prayers.
Let's invest in the place where the people of God gather.
Please take a moment to fill out this survey - it will help us immensely going forward to hear your perspective as church leadership begins to evaluate work that needs to be done and how to best accomplish it.
